Storms after the Election
December 15, 2019

We were being blown along the coast path at Thurlestone.

Huge waves with whipped white crests, raced towards the shore. Seething sea foam flew like snow in the air and sand peppered us with each fresh gust.

Occasionally the path would dip into a sheltered spot and we’d pause to catch our breath and exchange a few words. Then we’d re-emerge into the onslaught of Nature as she roared at her own exuberant strength.

We were battered, knocked sideways and often stumbling to keep upright – but all we had to do was take the next step. That’s what it’s always about …. one step at a time.

The UK feels like it’s been through a similar political journey recently. Wild, angry and forceful with the occasional respite from the wrath of differing views and opinions.

The result of Thursday’s General Election marks the end of one stage of the UK’s political journey and the beginning of the next.

Are we temporarily experiencing a respite in the vitriol and spite that has spilled out of parliament and into society?

Maybe this will mark the beginning of a less tumultuous journey.

Certainly the election result has coincided with Stu and I considering what lies ahead with Inner Compass. More than ever we feel drawn to support the community and to support others who would like to weave wellbeing at the heart of their community.

We have an extraordinary amount of experience in sharing the message of Inside-Out with those who find themselves in serving professions.

It might be education, health, local government, charities, social care … there are so many incredible people who keep taking the next step.

They keep reaching out to others – regardless of the budgetary obstacles that obscure their way and the political rhetoric that blows them off course.

In 2020 Stu and I are going to be experimenting with ways of reaching our community – if you’d like to be part of this journey then let us know.

Maybe you are keen to :
1. Share the Inner Compass message in your community
2. Find a way to articulate your understanding of the Inside-out understanding
3. Discover others who want to make a difference in their own communities.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be outlining how you can be part of this going forward. So keep your eyes posted.

Let me know if you’d like to be part of this grassroots movement.
