Exploring The Constant in a Turbulent World

It’s one of these gloriously warm days in May the doors are opened and the sun’s intensity increases as she rises.

This morning, whilst drinking a coffee out in the garden I spied a common blue butterfly flitting around. I’ve never seen one of those in my garden so I felt enormously privileged.

As the political arguments wrangle in Westminster and the continued uncertainty about the virus looms large, I feel so removed from it all as I gaze at the O so blue sky and listen to the birds chatter.

Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed my moods rising and falling. At times there is an intense insecurity and at other times I feel settled and strong. These weeks of lockdown reflection have been a gift, I’ve been curious about my True Nature.

I continue to explore beyond the personal stories of ‘me’ which include stories about my characteristics, habits, personality and abilities.

I continue to delight in catching glimpses my true self against the illusory nature of my separate self. It looks like me, Liz is on a hero’s journey, battling external and internal demons to reach the promised land. However, I am more like Alice exploring Wonderland. I am a character that is lost in the story-filled world I inhabit. The ultimate satisfaction is not losing myself in the stories but rather exploring the Mind from which all stories and characters are born.

This exploration plays out in very ordinary ways. I walk the dog – I greet the hawthorn tree – I queue at the shops – I make supper – I weed the garden – I run webinars I explore wellbeing in my community. It’s all really simple.

When we talk to clients we look for bridges into their world – we look for ways to help people start the journey of questioning who they truly are. We encourage people to look beyond the compelling stories that haunt them and to see the eternal glimmer of their true nature. It’s an incredible exploration and I feel incredibly privileged.
