Discover The Intelligence of Spring Within You
May 3, 2021

Bluebells in a woodLast month I heard the cuckoo again. It was a distinctive call in the cold easterly moorland breeze. My heart leapt on hearing it. The cuckoo’s return is like welcoming an old friend home once more.

The sights and sounds of spring are bubbling all around. The birds are flitting between hedgerows, the evening bats are darting through the twilight skies and the tightly clasped buds are relinquishing their soft leaves and blossoms.

My wish is to slow down spring, but instead it seems to accelerate. There is so much to see, hear, smell and explore and so much of it is fresh and new. The grass verges and hedgerows are bursting into life. I want to savour each day, to sip it slowly and to celebrate each unfurling fern and colourful flower. Nature seems to have other plans – everything is bursting into life at breakneck speed – the creative potential energy is on display for all to see.

In our village we are creating some wildflower areas. We want to encourage insects and pollinators which in turn will benefit the wildlife. I love the way that we are allowing nature to reclaim small patches of land. She knows what’s best.

As we watch our mini-wildflower meadow grow we’ll see the miracle of nature in action. We’ll see how she creates an eco-system that is rich and varied. We don’t need to make this happen; she will do this all on her own.

Our role is to create the best conditions for what is natural to take hold. In other words, to leave the ground alone and allow the earth to flourish. Nature doesn’t want neatly clipped lawns – she wants the sprawl of spring to arise; allowing the treasures of life to emerge.

This reminds me so much of wellbeing. Our wellbeing is natural, it is built into our psychological system. The more we tinker with our thinking the more we hinder the natural eco-system of our minds. Our role in our wellbeing, is to allow that which is natural to be released and flourish. Our minds, like the fields, are longing to return to a natural balance.

If you watch the deeper intuitive, intelligence of nature you can’t help but amazed at the way the energy of life flows through everything. That same energy flows through you and me. We too are nature. When we resonate with this deeper energy of life, then we too find ourselves returning to a healthy, natural psychological balance.

The real secret of freedom is not to try to orchestrate and control life. When we try to control our thoughts, or make other people change that is the same as manicuring the lawns and trimming the hedges. Rather than trying to control, if we instead listen deeply and we listen within – then we are able to hear the beautiful natural harmonies of life itself and in that freedom, we find ourselves dancing along to the music of life.

an interesting comparison. Can we actually control anything? Trying to comes from our level of understanding and is perfect at the time.
