Here at the Inner Compass Guide CIC (Community Interest Company) we don’t share tools or techniques, but instead show how a simple form of listening connects to wellbeing.

We (Liz Scott and Stu Newberry) are building a network of ‘Wellbeing Listeners’ within our local community of Ivybridge. We are collaborating with the Social Prescriber, charities, groups, faith organisations, local businesses and the Community Voluntary Sector to create a thriving community founded on wellbeing.

We’ve seen how laughter, conversation and connections naturally arise when people listen out for the inherent wellbeing in each other.

The Inner Compass Guide CIC shines a light on the existing strengths and resilience within individuals (and the wider community) enabling people to slow-down and reconnect with what is meaningful and important to them.

Want to be a Wellbeing Listener?

We run Wellbeing Listener Courses which are subsidised for people local to Ivybridge. Once you’ve engaged in the programmes we encourage you to become a Wellbeing Listener for your friends, family and/or work colleagues.

If you live in or near Ivybridge you can join us at the ‘Ivybridge Community Hub’ for an informal meet-up where you can be of support to others.

Here are the four programmes. We run these online, so they are also accessible for those outside of the Ivybridge area.

Introduction

This two-hour webinar is free. We run them six to eight times per year.

Wellbeing Listener Foundation

Discover how to listen for wellbeing in others and to recognise your own built-in resilience. Delivered on Zoom. Each session is one and a half hours. There are four sessions in total and two group mentoring sessions.

Community Listener

This six-month programme supports Wellbeing Listener projects in the community. You’ll create a project and engage with others through Wellbeing Listening.

Inner Compass Facilitator

If you would like to share the Inside-Out understanding then join this hands-on programme to find your voice. You’ll get the chance to shadow Liz and Stu and to support the students on the Community Listener Programme.

Wellbeing in Action

It seems that wellbeing is something we achieve once we’ve completed our ‘to do’ list, or we’ve managed to get away on holiday, or we engage in a fitness plan, or when we eat a healthy diet. Wellbeing isn’t dependant on any of these things.
